⚠️ EXTREME OVERDOSE RISK ⚠️

Fentanyl is 50-100 times stronger than morphine and 50 times stronger than heroin. Just 2 milligrams (equivalent to a few grains of salt) can be LETHAL.

Illicitly manufactured fentanyl is frequently mixed with heroin, cocaine, methamphetamine, and counterfeit pills. Users often don't know they're taking fentanyl.

According to the CDC, fentanyl is involved in more overdose deaths than any other drug.

IF OVERDOSE SUSPECTED:

1. Call 911 immediately • 2. Give naloxone (Narcan) if available • 3. Begin rescue breathing • 4. Stay until help arrives

Federal Classification: Schedule II Controlled Substance

Pharmaceutical vs. Illicit Fentanyl

Pharmaceutical fentanyl is a Schedule II controlled substance legally prescribed for severe pain management. However, illicitly manufactured fentanyl (IMF) is responsible for the overdose crisis.

Pharmaceutical Fentanyl

  • • Legal by prescription only
  • • Patches, lozenges, injections
  • • Strictly regulated dosages
  • • Used in medical settings

Illicit Fentanyl (IMF)

  • • Illegally manufactured
  • • Unknown potency (deadly)
  • • Mixed with other drugs
  • • Counterfeit pills
