About Christopher
Christopher Veto, NCACIP, is a certified intervention professional, founder of Intervention New York, and contributor to Long Island Rehab’s educational addiction and recovery resources. His work focuses on family-centered intervention planning, treatment navigation, recovery support, and helping families understand appropriate levels of care for substance use and co-occurring mental health concerns.
Christopher works directly with families before, during, and after the intervention process. His role is to help families prepare for difficult conversations, reduce confusion during a crisis, coordinate treatment options, and support a safer transition into detox, residential treatment, outpatient care, or continuing recovery support when appropriate.
He is a member of NAADAC, The Association for Addiction Professionals, and is connected with ISSUP, the International Society of Substance Use Professionals. He also serves as a moderator for the Family Recovery & Intervention Network, a professional community focused on addiction intervention, family engagement, relapse prevention, and recovery support.
Professional and Lived Experience
Christopher’s work is also informed by lived recovery experience. As a person in recovery, he understands the fear, denial, family strain, and uncertainty that can surround addiction. He uses that experience carefully and professionally, helping families stay focused on preparation, boundaries, treatment readiness, and the next safe step rather than shame, blame, or pressure.
Scope of Practice
Christopher Veto is a certified intervention professional and family recovery support specialist. He is not a physician, psychiatrist, psychologist, licensed clinical social worker, or medical provider. He does not diagnose medical or psychiatric conditions, prescribe medication, provide medical detox, or deliver clinical therapy.
His role is to help families understand their options, prepare for intervention, coordinate treatment logistics, and communicate with licensed treatment providers when a higher level of care is needed.
