What to Expect at an AA Meeting

Alcoholics Anonymous is a free fellowship of people who share their experience, strength and hope with each other to recover from a drinking problem. There are no dues, no fees, and no sign-up required — the only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking.

Meetings at Church of St. Aidan are open meetings, meaning anyone curious about AA may attend, including family members and friends. A typical meeting includes readings from the AA preamble and the “How It Works” chapter of the Big Book, followed by member shares.

Coffee, tea and a few snacks are usually available before and after the meeting.
